Marketing Team Reviewing Privacy Settings

2023 opened with two major new state-level data privacy laws coming into effect in California and Virginia. Three more state data privacy laws will come into force later in the year in Colorado, Connecticut, and Utah. Meanwhile, there is still not a timeline as to when comprehensive federal legislation will be produced to bring consistency to this growing patchwork of state data privacy laws.

This evolving data privacy landscape has made it increasingly difficult for data-driven marketers to reach their audiences with relevant advertising and stay compliant with these new laws. Marketers are facing what often feels like a moving data privacy target. That’s why we assembled a panel of experts in a recent webinar to provide insights into how marketers can be better equipped to address the new data privacy legislation—all while continuing to advertise to their ideal consumers.

You can view the webinar, “New Data Privacy Laws: What Marketers Must Know to Prepare,” to hear Wiland’s Bryn Weaver (Chief Legal Officer and Chief Data Ethics Officer) and Dave Sharpe (Division Vice President) speak with Mark Micali, VP of Government Affairs at The Nonprofit Alliance. In this webinar, they discuss what the new data privacy laws of 2023 entail and what actions marketers must take to ensure that they are prepared for recent and upcoming data privacy laws.

You’ll learn:

  • Which data privacy laws apply to your organization now.
This year’s new state-level data privacy laws have many common threads related to consumer rights and business obligations. But there are also significant differences among them that could affect businesses in different ways.
  • What’s on the data privacy horizon in Washington, D.C. for 2023 and beyond.
Hear from Mark Micali as he provides an update on where Congress left off with federal data privacy legislation during last year’s session and who the key players are on Capitol Hill as we look ahead to the next session.
  • How brands are successfully navigating the latest data privacy landscape.
Organizing and prioritizing your brand’s data privacy-related action items is key to solidifying your compliance. Assembling a cross-functional team helps ensure that no stone is left unturned when it comes to identifying considerations and needs.
  • How to prepare and protect your organization now and in the future.
While today’s patchwork of state-level data privacy laws and their potential operational impacts can feel overwhelming, it is possible to set your organization up for long-term good standing. Bryn Weaver outlines actionable steps to help you get there.
